the Parents’ Auxiliary
The Parents' Auxiliary is
looking for chaperone/volunteer help for next weekend's activities. On Friday,
March 19th we have a Cosmic Bowling Trip scheduled (9:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) and
Saturday, March 20th is Movie Night (8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.). If you would like to assist, please contact

the Commandant:
Open/Closed Weekends: This is a long open weekend for all boarding cadets. All Cadets may begin leaving campus after
classes today, Thursday the 11th and are due back on campus no later
than 7:30 p.m. Monday the 15th.
Parents are asked to please take into consideration heavy traffic
conditions and public transportation schedules when deciding what time to begin
returning cadets to campus. Cadets who
return to campus late will be assessed tours and will forfeit their next open
weekend.

Spring
Term Parent Faculty Conferences: The conference will be
held on 20 March 2010. The conference
runs from 0815-1230 in ten minute intervals.
The Winter Athletic Luncheon will immediately follow. Mrs. Madaia (tmadaia@nyma.org or ext. 4262) will begin
taking requests for conference appointments on 9 March 2010.
Advisory: Your student’s advisor is your point of contact at
the school. They can best direct you on
how to navigate our system and serve as the liaison for you and your
student. If you have not heard from
your advisor, please contact the Academic Office.
Spring Term: The Spring Term began
immediately on 8 March 2010.
Community Service: Submit, on organizational
letterhead, the hours and service completed at an outside organization to Ms.
Likar. Seniors must have their community service completed by 1 May 2010. I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but

Global Youth
Service Day is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of
children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through
service and service-learning. GYSD is the largest service event in the world
and is now celebrated in over 100 countries. On GYSD, children and youth
address the world's most critical issues in partnership with families, schools,

International Children's Peace Prize 2010 (Deadline:
April 1)
The International Children's Peace Prize is presented annually to
a child, whose courageous or otherwise remarkable acts have made a difference
in countering problems, which affect children around the world. The Children’s
Peace Prize was first awarded in 2005. The Children’s Peace Prize
includes prize money, which will be invested by KidsRights in specific projects
related to the struggle for peace and children’s rights of the winner.
KidsRights invites you to nominate a child who you feel might be a good
candidate for this Prize, such as a child who has a history of standing up and
fighting for children’s rights. Deadline for sending in the nomination form is
April 1, 2010. The nomination form is available at: www.childrenspeaceprize.org
